Today we had a visit from Carrie from Fareshare to talk to children about the charity she works for.
Fareshare is the largest UK charity fighting hunger and food waste. Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of good food is wasted by the UK food industry every year. At the same time, millions of people are struggling to afford to eat. Fareshare addresses these two issues by redistributing food industry surplus, which would otherwise go to waste, to the people who need it most.
Children were shocked to hear about how much food is wasted because it is the wrong size or shape! They made posters to encourage parents to buy 'wonky' vegetables when they next go shopping!
